Celebrating Our Work with MEP and Looking Ahead
Over the past year the Gulab Sorkh Foundation partnered with Minerva Elite Performance to deliver English and Citizenship classes for our Afghan clients. The programme supported learners in building confidence, improving language and digital skills, and taking steps toward further education and employment. With funding now ended, we hope to continue this important work with future support.
Over the past year, the Gulab Sorkh Foundation has had the privilege of working in close partnership with Minerva Elite Performance (MEP), a specialist in educational and personal development programmes. MEP brings a unique and holistic approach to community empowerment, offering tailored, and expertly delivered ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Citizenship classes designed to help learners build confidence, gain independence, and integrate into UK society.
Our Case Manager, Fereshteh, who has been actively involved throughout the project, shared how inspiring the journey has been. She has seen learners flourish, commenting that ‘learners progressed dramatically’. Some learners started in the beginners’ class and, within just 10 weeks, had advanced to the improvers group. This is a reflection of their hard work and the strong support provided through MEP’s teaching.
Many learners have gone on to start college or find work. One learner found a job in retail, demonstrating that their English skills had improved enough to communicate confidently and secure employment. Another learner is now studying a Level 2 course and hopes to continue her education further. These stories show the real-life impact of the programme and the importance of this partnership.
Feedback:
‘We are incredibly proud of the partnership MEP has built with GSF over the past 18 months. Together, we have delivered online ESOL and citizenship training for those who have bravely relocated from Afghanistan and are building new lives in the UK. This programme has provided not only vital language skills and knowledge, but also a sense of connection and belonging. The dedication of MEP staff, expert trainers, and GSF team members has been truly inspiring, helping to create real opportunities for growth and confidence. As we celebrate what we have achieved together, MEP is honoured to be part of this work. We remain committed to supporting individuals as they settle, grow, and thrive in their new communities.’ - Head of Education and Quality Assurance at MEP
‘As the MEP English and Citizenship sessions for the Gulab Sorkh Afghan resettlement learners come to an end, I cannot help but reflect on what an absolute pleasure this experience has been. Collaborating with such motivated individuals and witnessing their growth has been truly inspiring. I am incredibly grateful to have been part of this initiative and deeply admire the work of the charity that made this programme possible. I look forward to future opportunities to work with this wonderful organisation again and continue contributing to their vital mission.’ - ESOL Programme Coordinator at MEP
‘Over the course of many weeks, I was able to see progress and growth in confidence. I believe that these lessons contributed to participants’ understanding of not only the basics of English but also British culture. Because the course was delivered online, learners were able to connect from different parts of the country and benefit from weekly lessons. All in all, it was my pleasure to have been a part of such an incredible project.’ - ESOL Teacher

We are extremely proud of everything we have achieved in partnership with MEP and deeply grateful for the journey so far. Although the current funding for this programme has now concluded, bringing a pause to the lessons for now, the impact has been truly remarkable. We have seen firsthand how empowering and transformative the classes have been for our learners. With this inspiration, we are actively exploring new opportunities to bring the programme back.
We would love to continue this important work and reach even more people who are rebuilding their lives in the United Kingdom.
