Case study: Life in the UK

All names have been changed along with some aspects of these case studies to maintain anonymity.

Mohamad and Najiba and their family have been amazing at grabbing every opportunity with both hands…

They are an inspiration and encourage other families to be brave, accept housing offers quickly, and start their new lives. They also praise the local authority team, who they say never let them feel like strangers, and always treated them like their own family.

Mohamad tells us:

“When I arrived in the UK with my family, I was thinking every moment - How I can start life in a new place, where I don't know the culture and language and have no belongings?

Very quickly I was told that there was a house in Scotland for me and my family.  I was happy to accept a house anywhere. I agreed, and when we got there, we found a beautiful house with all the comforts a family needs.  The support team enrolled me and my wife in college to learn English and my children in primary school.

And so it is, that now, after a year we came to Scotland, we have integrated into society much more easily than I thought and we continue to live in a safe place.”
